Vaping-Get Some Facts-Vaping Safe Substitute for Cigarettes
Return to Vaping Blog

Tarrant Ecig StoreAs vaping becomes more popular the debate rages on whether it’s safer than smoking tobacco products. Recent studies are showing yes, vaping is a safer substitute to tobacco cigarettes.

A recent study was done by the Royal College of Physicians (RCP), called “Nicotine without Smoke: Tobacco Harm Reduction.” The 200 page commentary established the general health dangers associated with e-cigarettes was much lower than that of the average tobacco cigarette. The RCP concluded, “Some harm from sustained exposure to low levels of toxins over many years may yet emerge, but the magnitude of these risk relative to those of sustained tobacco smoking is likely to be small.” The report estimates smoking vapor products poses a less than 5% risk in comparison to tobacco cigarettes.

According the report the RCP determined vaping has become a valuable resource for traditional tobacco smokers to quit smoking entirely or reduce their dependence on tobacco products. The report observed that vaping has become more widely used for smoking cessation than marketed Nicotine Replacement Therapies (NRT).

The health dangers from tobacco cigarettes is notorious due to research and overt media campaigns by the healthcare industry. Nicotine in tobacco cigarettes is addictive. Tobacco and numerous other chemicals in cigarettes are known carcinogens. According to WebMD these chemicals are known to potentially trigger diseases including lung cancer, vascular diseases, COPD, upper airway and esophageal cancer, and a host of other diseases.

Contrasting from tobacco cigarettes with their slew of potentially carcinogenic elements, there are only a few ingredients in the e-liquids smoked in vaping products. These include vegetable glycerin, propylene glycol and flavorings. The three main ingredients have been safely sourced for ordinary household products and in foods for many years. Propylene Glycol is often added as an ingredient in food coloring, a flavor carrier in processed foods, and in cosmetics and medicines. Vegetable glycerin is a product derived from plant oils such as palm, soy, and coconut. It can be found in lotions, shampoos, and toothpastes.

Another plus for E-cigarettes and other vape products, they contain no tobacco. On the other hand, some e-liquids do contain nicotine. E-liquids contain different levels, but the average amount is between 6mg to 24mg. Some E-liquids are nicotine-free. It’s up to the vape smoker to choose the amount he needs. For tobacco smokers trying to cut-down or quit, this an ideal way to decrease the level of nicotine gradually and at their own speed.

Also in favor of e-cigarettes and vaping, there is no second-hand smoke problems like in tobacco cigarettes. The “smoke” from e-cigarettes is in fact a vapor created by the e-liquid being warmed inside the apparatus. The smoke from tobacco cigarettes obviously has tobacco. It also contains other substances that are potentially dangerous to anyone inhaling. The vapor associated with e-cigarettes and other vaping devices is tobacco-free, and potentially emits no other unsafe by-products.
